The space created doesn’t really look like a finished basement, but rather part of their house that was always there. In addition to a home office and craft room, there is a fully featured exercise room with mirrors and a ballet bar and a full bath with body sprays and a steam shower, a billiards area, and a wet bar. There were many built-ins and custom touches, concealing a lot of ductwork and many girders in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.
It’s a space they love, that seems “fun”, and allows them to casually relax and unwind with family and friends. Clark Construction won a 2004 Chrysalis Award for this finished basement. The rest of the client’s home was extremely formal; well suited to business entertaining. In this space we counterbalanced this formality – giving them a place where they could bring their close friends and family and just really relax…. and have fun.
