"This basement counterbalances the formality of the rest of the house - it's a place where our clients can bring their close friends and family to really relax, enjoy their hobbies, and have fun."

A Fun and Relaxing Basement

(Wilton, CT)

The Challenge

Starting with an unfinished basement with a lot of girders and ductwork in awkward places, we created a space where our client could truly let down their hair and unwind with family and friends, with dedicated space for their hobbies.

A bar and snack area separate the billiard room on the left from the media room.  The bar’s wood framed columns disguise steel supports.

Scrapbooking Central! Plenty of room for a large work table for  group projects.  Natural light pours through the sliding French doors, supplemented by recessed lighting to make a bright work area, regardless of time of day.

Three-panel French doors replaced a single door and window, providing exercisers with a sunny view.  Carpeting promotes casual comfort.

"I love the way the rooms are designed, especially all the cubbyholes and cabinets. So many people remodel a basement as one big room, but it works so much better when the space is divided, with half walls creating a feeling of open space. ”
